I painted my pet panther grouper in my first triptych in Kathy Windrow’s painting class back in about 1998 or so. I went to Home Depot and bought a 4×8′ piece of 3/4″ thick poplar plywood, and had the nice man in lumber cut it into rectangles for me for my painting class projects. I like how you can play with the placement of these pieces: out of order, around corners, inside corners…. you can take this home and have a lot of fun with this fish.
The fish actually lived in my saltwater tank for quite a while, until he gorged himself on little goldfish I fed him, and went belly up. The painting is all I have left of him….
