This is from a photograph from the 30’s of my grandmother, Georgia Penn. The depression had just hit in Lexington, Kentucky. It was too expensive for my grandfather to heat the house, so he sent his wife and three boys (another one came later) down to live in Dania Beach while he worked at the race track and lived in cold Lexington alone. My dad told me he thouroughly enjoyed the entire depression!
