On May 1, I posted the following on facebook and instagram:

Magenta, white and yellow ground. May 1

I had just prepared my “ground” (first layer of paint color on the canvas) for an idea I had for a picture. I could definitely see what I was going to paint, was wondering if anybody else did!

Here’s my first post:

May 1 at 4:36 PM  Contest!!!! Identify the subject of this new painting. Two words. One adjective and one noun. Must be exact. Will post more as it progresses. Person who guesses correctly first gets a prize: mini giclee of it 1) if I finish it 2) when I finish it.

NOBODY WINS….. AGAIN. so here’s some more….

Third pic. You have entered an ongoing contest but that’s ok, nobody has won yet. What am I painting? Two words: a participial adjective and a noun. See two prior posts for info on prize you may win. Also for about 100 things that it is NOT. Someone should get it at this stage….

The pic above got 55 guesses. Three correct!

Here’s our little facebook game…… the FOURTH update for the ____________ _____ . Two words, adjective and noun. One winner, and ONLY THREE RIGHT GUESSES SO FAR!!!!! So, once we get some momentum going and it becomes OBVIOUS, I’ll share my blog with you about the WHOLE DARN THING.

So, now the pig is out of the bag.

Winner: ERIN SANDS

Erin Sands correctly identified the “swimming pig” after third pic was posted. Hey, persistance pays off; her first guess was a road runner.

So, the painting continues WITHOUT facebook distraction:

What a difference a little blue makes….

Sorry. Can’t get it to rotate.

Please notice a little quirk of mine in this pic…. do you see a dark mark under the middle tree in the water?

I use my pinkie planted on the canvas to steady my painting hand, but SOMETIMES that pinkie strays into wet paint, so when I move around the canvas so does that pinkie paint! I review the painting at the end and attempt to correct the marks, but lots of my paintings still have some rogue pinkie dots in them!

And finally, the SWIMMING PIG
