  • Ocean & Soul Coffee Table Book

Ocean & Soul Coffee Table Book

    Price range: $ 69.95 through $ 195.00

Available in two editions. The Collector’s Edition ($195) is a lay-flat hardcover that opens completely flat across every spread, with a soft-touch finish that feels as considered as the paintings inside — the kind of book that stops people in their tracks when they see it on a table. The Beach House Edition ($69.95) is a hardcover built for life in the real world — the same paintings, the same stories, priced to buy two, or three, or one for everyone on your list, including the closing gift that finally does justice to a sale. Either way, you’re getting thirty-nine paintings and the true story behind every one of them, in Kim’s own words. First printing ships late October.

  • As Above, So Below

    As Above, So Below

    Price range: $ 2,760.00 through $ 18,000.00

Diptych — two canvases, 40×30″ each (40×60″ overall) · Acrylic on linen · pages 44–45

Stand back first. Take in the whole 40×60 sweep of it — because this painting has a cosmology, and it won’t give you everything at once.

Up top, the world of light: eagle rays gliding like birds through shattered, refracted aqua, spheres drifting in slow orbit — planets, bubbles, suns, you decide. The water up here behaves like sky.

Down below, the world of weight and warmth: a great red octopus, his body glowing like heat under cold water, like life insisting on itself. His arms pour downward through the blue, looping into enormous rings that bloom beneath him — and inside those rings, small worlds of violet, green, and gold, orbiting. The same circles that float above him, he draws below. A school of white squid streams past his mantle like thrown light.

And right down the middle, the seam where two canvases meet — the divide becomes the water itself, the place where two worlds touch. His arms cross it like it isn’t there. The rays sail through it. Above mirrors below, below answers above, and the octopus is the hinge between them.

This is a painting that pulls you in and won’t let you leave until you’ve found everything hiding in it. And every time you come back, something else has surfaced.

  • Flying Over the River of Oz

Flying Over the River of Oz

    Price range: $ 95.00 through $ 5,200.00

    24×24″ · Acrylic on canvas · page 32

That tiny, audacious bird — hurling itself across a world that’s been shattered and reassembled into something that shouldn’t hold together but absolutely does.

The bird is so small. The landscape is so much. And yet the bird wins.

Your eye goes straight to it — across a river that arcs like a parenthesis around something unspeakable, over fields of jade and gold seen from somewhere above the clouds.

A sun, or maybe a moon, refusing to commit in the corner. The whole surface pressing forward, every tile of paint alive.

And in the middle of all that ancient, shattered beauty — one small creature, completely certain of where it’s going.

That golden shape keeps showing up in my paintings. Sun or moon, I never decide. It’s a destination. Like Oz. And the river is pointing the way.

  • Dream of Turtle Island

    Dream of Turtle Island

    Price range: $ 95.00 through $ 18,000.00

    36×48″ · Acrylic on linen · page 33

This painting began the moment I pressed play on the audiobook of Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer and picked up a brush. I started with a blank canvas and no idea what I was going to paint.

A reclining dreamer appeared. Her braids drift through the water like currents, carrying the movement of the painting across the canvas. Around her, the dream fills with sea life — fish moving through open water, shells and reefs, and above them a dark celestial planet holding Turtle Island itself, suspended in space.

At one point a snake appeared and honestly scared me. Instead of painting it out, I placed it inside an unbreakable glass globe — alive but contained, ready but unable to strike. As the painting evolved, the snake slowly changed form and became an eel, something that belonged naturally in the watery world.

By the time it was finished, it felt less like something I planned and more like something that arrived while I was paying attention.

  • Feels Like Home

    Feels Like Home

    Price range: $ 95.00 through $ 1,490.00

Feels Like Home is a chart of my feelings about the place where I live. Look for Eagle Rock on your left as you approach the harbour entrance. Find our house in Fry’s Mangrove, where the lighthouse beam literally shines through our window every night, just like in the painting.

Busy worker bees load up on pigeon pea pollen to return to the honeycomb below. At the top, the queen is on her mating flight, which anchors the painting’s sense of future and survival. Pigeon peas act as a quiet foundation, a reminder that sustenance and pollination come before landmarks. A white crown pigeon is tucked into the corner.

The lighthouse has marked the history of this place since 1863, but it’s one of the newest things in the painting. Queens were making their mating flights long before its construction. The flowers were already feeding whoever needed feeding. Those systems don’t need a light to keep going.

That’s what this painting really is: a record of what was already here before us, and what will keep going after. Our house just happens to sit right in the middle of it.

  • Once in a Blue Moon

    Once in a Blue Moon

    Price range: $ 95.00 through $ 18,000.00

Once in a Blue Moon is one of those paintings where you feel, almost immediately, that a lot is happening — and that it’s happening on purpose. It’s submerged, mythic, slightly uncanny, drawing from real creatures and real relationships while allowing space for something imagined to exist among them.

The scene unfolds on a conch bed, and that matters. Conch are known to gather in large numbers, and here they do so in a way that feels abundant and right — not threatened, not harvested, not disappearing. In the real world, conch are increasingly depleted and removed from their ecosystems, but in this painting they remain together, present in their full and marvelous multitude.

At the center, a feminine figure rests. She is not posed, not guarded, not performing anything. She trusts where she is. That sense of safety is striking, especially given what surrounds her.

Nearby, the octopus holds its ground. It is blue, strong, unmistakably capable. A blue-ring octopus is not something to take lightly — its power is absolute. And yet here, that power is restrained. The octopus does not advance; it supports. Its arms move through the space with care, offering contact, comfort, and communion rather than harm. This is masculine power fully intact, choosing relationship over dominance.

Above, eagle rays glide through the water column — effortless, formidable, perfectly at home in their scale. They bring awe without intrusion, passing through rather than pressing down.

If you look closely, quieter presences emerge. Two turtles move with their own ancient calm. A single conch fish slips among the shells, easy to miss but essential. Small relationships that quietly hold the larger system together.

Color binds everything. Blues dominate without cooling the painting down, while golds and yellow-greens glow softly through shells, bodies, and water — closer to bioluminescence than light. Warm and cool coexist without struggle.

And then there are the two moons — not a metaphor so much as a condition. A blue-moon month. Rare, real, and slightly disorienting. The kind of alignment that doesn’t last, but while it does, changes how everything feels.

What gives the painting its charge is not any single symbol, but the way they coexist: masculine and feminine, danger and trust, abundance and loss, stillness and motion. Nothing is simplified. Nothing is neutralized.

It feels like witnessing something that doesn’t happen often — but does happen — when conditions are right.

  • Tiloo Cut (Unintentional Painting)

    Tiloo Cut (Unintentional Painting)

    $ 1,000.00

What began as a workboard for cleaning brushes and pressing leftover paint evolved—entirely by accident—into a vivid, abstract portrait of Tiloo Cut, the narrow turquoise passage between Elbow Cay and Tiloo Cay in the Abacos. No deliberate brushstroke was made; the image emerged from layers of wiped color, dried palettes, and chance impressions.

Yet the place revealed itself unmistakably: the sandbar at Tahiti Beach, the shallows shifting from aqua to gold, and the deep channel where the Atlantic breathes through. The randomness of paint echoes the living movement of water and light in the cut—how color there never holds still, and how even unconscious gestures can carry the memory of a landscape lived and loved.

  • Bahamaland

    Bahamaland

    Price range: $ 95.00 through $ 12,000.00

    30×40″ · Acrylic on linen · page 13

“Lift up your head to the rising sun, Bahamaland…”

Inspired by the opening line of the Bahamas national anthem, this light-filled painting captures the quiet strength of a sea turtle rising through crystalline waters. Sunlight fractures across her back as she moves upward, powerful and unhurried. Beneath her, the reef hums with layered color — blues, aquas, and golds shaped by current and memory.

But there’s more here than meets the eye. Meaning drifts just beneath the surface, if you know where to look. Bahamaland is both a portrait and a hymn, a tribute to the sacred, living waters of a place I’ve come to call home.

    Bahamas National Anthem

    Lift up your head to the rising sun, Bahamaland;

March on to glory, your bright banners waving high.

See how the world marks the manner of your bearing!

Pledge to excel through love and unity.

    Pressing onward, march together to a common loftier goal;

Steady sunward, though the weather hide the wide and treacherous shoal.

    Lift up your head to the rising sun, Bahamaland;

‘Til the road you’ve trod lead unto your God,

    March on, Bahamaland!

  • Living Out Loud

    Living Out Loud

    10×10″ · Acrylic on birch · page 42

Living Out Loud is a visual poem and a self-portrait — declared, not whispered. Words emerge like islands floating in a sea of abstract land, water, and light. The piece blends place and personhood, mapping identity through bold color and layered text.

Phrases ripple across the surface like waves meeting the shoreline. My voice merges with the geography of the Bahamas, creating a portrait not just of self, but of belonging.

  • Please Release Me

    Please Release Me

    Price range: $ 95.00 through $ 24,000.00

    40×72″ · Acrylic on linen · pages 18–19

Please Release Me depicts a sailfish suspended beneath the ocean’s surface, its powerful form dissolving into liquid light. It’s a meditation on entanglement and impermanence, capturing the blurred threshold between control and surrender.

I painted this from a reference photo by Greg Salsberg of a sailfish brought up alongside a boat, its body still in the water except for the tip of its tail breaking the surface. It had fought hard. Billfish often don’t survive the fight, even after release. That tension between survival and surrender became the undercurrent of the painting.

The ocean here isn’t just a setting; it’s a collaborator. Light refracts and shatters. Water distorts and dissolves. The sail disintegrates into vibration, breaking apart into brush gestures, energy, and motion.

Please Release Me might be a plea from the fish. Or the painter. Or maybe it’s an invitation to the viewer: loosen your hold on certainty. There’s a strange grace in that letting go.

The greatest fish of all time… the awesome blue tuna.  Worth researching to find out how magnificent a creation it really is.  I was first introduced to this amazing fish through Carl Safina’s 1998 book “Song for the Blue Ocean” (click here). The author really opened my eyes in the very first chapters to see what a marvelous feat of engineering went into this powerhouse of a sea creature.

  • Our Job

    Our Job

    $ 1,200.00

    10×10″ · Acrylic on birch · page 42

Look for the haunch first — that curved gold shape holding its ground against the black. Then the shoulder behind it, hunched low. Then the claws: one set, two sets… tucked into brushwork that was never trying to hide them.

He’s sitting. Watching. That’s the whole job, apparently.

The words showed up at the same time he did. Aldous Huxley, decades before I was born: “Men’s business is to make the human world safe for animals and spirits.” I didn’t go looking for that line. I didn’t go looking for the bear either. They arrived together, like they’d been waiting on the same canvas for the same moment.

I don’t think that’s a coincidence I get to take credit for. Somebody was trying to say something, and I happened to be holding a brush.

So here it is, in case you needed the reminder same as I did: make it safe for them. That’s the job. Whoever’s asking — Huxley, the bear, something older than both — the message doesn’t change no matter the messenger.

Here’s my husband Mark’s dad having a blast in Bozeman, Montana. We sure miss him!

And, here’s the backstory: I had painted my dad “lost in the Everglades” a few months back, and hung it in our bedroom.  But, something was a little off.  I finally figured out that Mark needed his dad in there as well! So I searched through Mark’s pics and found one of Ned on a fishing trip they took for his 80th birthday.  I’ve included a pic of how they look together. They only met each other once but I’m sure they would have been fast friends.

Can you guess where this is? The palms are moving. You can see it in the way the light won’t settle. The docks hold steady; the reflections don’t. Wind keeps interrupting them.

At first it reads as a familiar harbor scene — lights, pilings, the shallow glow of a place that stays awake after dark. Then the water starts doing something else. The reflections stretch and break into a pattern that doesn’t belong to the shoreline.

Orion’s Belt is rising in the east. Not just overhead — also in the water. It’s easy to miss if you’re looking at the sky. But once you see it, the painting shifts. The harbor becomes a mirror, and the night gets a second orientation.

This is Pete’s Pub from the water. Nothing dramatic is happening. The wind keeps moving the palms. The stars keep coming up, wheeling over us the way they do every night. Which is extraordinary, once you stop and notice.
